Wire rod is a semi-finished long steel product that is constructed by rolling hot billets of steel on rolling mills. It is mostly round in cross-section and is rolled up in coils. Contrasting to most steel products, wire rod has a significant range variety in commodity that is based on the chemical composition of them. ·         Mild steel rods: These are used for the manufacturing of welded mesh and other black, coated and annealed drawn rods.

Square wire

Square wire is manufactured by the process of continuous casting of a round wire or a cast billet and then it is put through a specific process of rolling to develop a square wire of excellent quality. Square wire works incredible in the manufacturing of jewelry as they are very workable and easily formed. Multiple advantages are offered by a rolled square wire due to its ability to reduce in size. Because of this square wire is used in the manufacturing of other shapes such as oval, round, or d-shaped. Square wire can be build out of many alloys including silver, platinum, gold and palladium. The major applications of square wire are mentioned below.

·         Square wire is majorly used in the formation of hand-made jewelry.

·         Because of its high strength, square wire is used in the manufacturing of mechanical springs.

·         Mesh made out of square wire is highly used filtration systems, railing infill panels, welded construction, fan guards, etc.

·         They are also very helpful in binding other wires as many other wires can be placed side by side with the bundled wire. Unlike round wire, square wire does not tend to slip after binding.

Triangle wire

Also known as V-shaped wire, triangle wire is mostly popular among filtration applications such as floor drain gate and wedge wire screen. Triangle wire is mostly made out of stainless steel with a cross section of an equilateral triangle. It is available with sharp or rounded edges and its unique shape gives it additional advantages in many orthodontic applications. Another type of triangle wire is a wedged wire which is used in the wedge wire screen system as a support rod. Both the triangle wire and wedged wire are available in various alloy materials, mostly in stainless steel and carbon steel. The major applications of triangle wire are

·         Wedged wire screens: Triangle wire is commonly adopted by the wedged wire screens as the profile wire for better filtration. These screens also adopt the wedged wire as a support rod. Because of the adjustable and flexible open area, wedged and triangle wire is responsible for the appropriate filtration, accuracy, and the efficiency of working in the system of wedged wire screens.

·         Floor drain gates: Floor drain gates are another major application of triangle wire. It is being adopted by the floor drain gates as the surface wire because of its advantages of excellent filtration, smooth surface, low possibility of blanking, and high open surface ratio. Triangle wire is also highly resistant to dust and corrosion which is one of the major reasons why floor drain gates adopts them.

Flat wire

Flat wire is mostly made out of round wires. The manufacturing process of flat wire includes the rolling of a round wire into a flat cross section that is further formed into multiple optional sizes via a series of intermediate anneals and rolling operations. Flat wire is mostly available in multiple alloy bases that are suitable for various applications. The gauge of flat wire ranges between 0.3mm and 12mm and they can be packed in straight coils or bars for multiple requirements. Apart from these sizes, flat wire is also available in greater widths and thickness if ordered.

Materials used to manufacture flat wire are aluminum, steel, iron, copper, and stainless steel. Flat wire is surface treated by various methods that include electrical galvanization, hot dipped galvanization, and electroplating. These wires are available in various edge options such as rounded, full rounded, square edged, and naturally rolled. The major advantages of flat wire are
